extra input languages in Vista

S

sylvia

So let me know if I have this right. I have to BUY an upgraded version of
Vista if I want to type in Thai. Am I right about this or am I missing
something? Why bother with Vista when XP comes with this?! AUGH! Please
help.

Hi Sylvia,

Keyboard language support can be added in any version of Vista from the
Control Panel/Regional and Language Options on the Keyboards and Languages
tab.

The only reason to upgrade to Ultimate would be if you wanted to add a
language MUI pack that would allow you to change the base installed OS
language, something that is not necessary for the majority of users.

Hi Rick

Using MS Vista Home Basic, I've added the Thai keyboard, but 5 of the
characters needed do not display. They are all diacritics used in Thai
writing. Letters go on the line, some vowels above the letters and over those
vowels are some extra diacritics to indicate either the tone of the word, or
that the letter is silent.

I've searched the Knowledge Base, but couldn't find a fix.

Any suggestions?

Cheers
Joe

Any version? My Vista Enterprise DVD has no other languages except English.
Where can I download the language file for this version of Vista?

Search in Window help for "Add an input language". If that doesn't help,
you'd have to go to Microsoft online.

PS I solved my problem. There was some bug in MS Office XP. So I upgraded to
MS Office 2007.
