Hello,

I entered a long expression in the expression builder and when I tried
running the query, I noticed that the expression whas truncated. Does anyone
know of a way to enter all the expression without having access erase it?

Thank you in advance,

Hi Stefano,
I too have found the same problem. In my case, I wrote a complete and fully
functioning mortgage management application based in Access97. Hundreds of
tables and querries and forms and reports, all with embedded VBA code. The
customer for whom it was created uses Access2000. I installed and converted
the database and it has been functioning fine for the last two years.
Today, after installing some updated functions in one of the forms, he
discovered a bug in one of the other functons related to a wording change in
the updated function. Should be no big deal to edit the criteria in the
required query.
However, after opening the query in design mode, and making the criteria
change we tried to save the changes, but got the error stateing it was
missing a required character in an expression, but we had not edited the
referenced expression. We we looked, we too found that the last 22
characters of the expression had been truncated! We tried and tried to
correct it, but it did not work.
Finally, using Access97, I wrote the corrected query, and emailed to him in
an otherwise blank database. He was able to import the new query, and run it
without issue, even though the expression was too long for the expression
builder.

Please let me know if you found other solutions or technical reasons for
this apparently new limitation within the expression builder?

Thanks,
Bilbo
