exporting to xml

Hello,
For fun I was seeing what happens when you export to xml.
I see the following geting generated:
htm,xml,xsd, and xsl.

xml is the data.
xsd give the table def.

what is the xsl file for?
There is vbscript in it.
it seems strange.
