Exporting Current Policy Settings

S

Scott Moyer

Hello, I'm looking for is a quick and easy way to export
my CURRENT Local Security Settings to a Template (INF)
file (without changing any settings). I've been
experimenting with Security Configuration Analysis and
Security Templates but haven't found the answer.

Thanks,

Try the below. This will export to HTML.

From Windows XP;
Help and Support;
Use Tools to view your computer information and diagnose problems;
Advanced System Information;
View Group Policies applied;

Once this tool runs, at the bottom you have the option to save as HTML. You
will also notice at the bottom there will be 'Run he Resultant Set of Policy
Tool' which is information about policy settings that are applied.

Another option;

From MMC;
Load Security Configuration and Analysis;
Right click on Security and Configuration to export your configurations to a
database and information file;

a. Open database

b. When prompted type in the name you want to save your configuration
settings as (state.sdb)

c. When prompted type in the name you want to save yourconfiguration
settings \ template as (state.ini)

Modify the folder settings to show all hidden files and folders;

Copy c:\winnt\security\group policy off the machine;

Hope this helps
