EXPLORER TO OPEN ON UR FOLDER CHOICE

DEAR ALL
I tried to alter the setting in explorer properties and do get the
folder i want it to open when i click explorer. But I hv to click on
folders to see the folder view. How to get over this. Also would like
to know how to change setting in explorer so that when i click 'open'
in ms office, it does not show always 'my documents' folder and
instead will show folder of my choice. Pls help
