Explorer folder view corrupt

Windows Explorer folder view is corrupt; the folders
window on the left is all gray with the only thing visible
being the X to close it. The files window on the right is
ok though.

I am having the same problem on my 2000 machine. I have
sent a support question to Microsoft and am waiting on the
reply. Please let me know if you figure it out and I will
do the same...

I have talked to Microsoft support and they have sent me
registry keys which fixed my problem. I can send you

I have the same problem. I thought it was due to my ATI
card and the drivers taht added a TV view, however after
removing all of file it still does it. Can you explain
how to edit/add this registry key?

Go to Start>Run and type 'regedit'. Under 'My Computer'
the first folder should be HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT. Expand this
and go down to CLSID. Expand this and scroll down to
locate {EFA24E64-B078-11D0-89E4-called InProcServer32. Right click 'Default' and
select 'Modify binary data.' In this view you will see the
hexadecimal making up this key. Between the line numbers
on the left and the information on the right you should
see 8 columns of hex data. The numbers below are the way
they ought to read from left to right going down:

25,00,53,00,79,00,73,00,
74,00,65,00,6d,00,52,00,
6f,00,6f,00,74,00,25,00,
5c,00,73,00,79,00,73,00,
74,00,65,00,6d,00,33,00,

In addition to this, right click "ThreadingModel" and
select "Modify" (not binary data) and make sure the value
data says "Apartment" (without the quotes).

Be careful editing your registry as doing something wrong
could cause Windows not to run properly. This is the long
way to fix this data, but as I said microsoft sent me
a .reg file which will add this data automatically. I
would be more than happy to email it to you if you want.
