Explain how to create clickable icons in FrontPage/Word

It would be useful to be able to create photo or other graphic icons of
various sizes on the face of the homepage or on linked Word Documents that
link to the full size photo or graphic. Current searches related to "icon"
yield no useful information

In FP you would create thumbnail images, which you can set the size.
