*.exe icons missing..

I am not sure what happened, but my all exe icons are gone! They are
working fine but all exe icons are generic empty icons.

After I noticed that my exe icons are gone, i tried to get them back..
First of all runned a program called "Xp Tuner" and tried to assign
another icon for exe's but nothing changed.. Then -to reset the
shell32.dll- (Start/Run/ and typed REGSVR32 /i SHELL32.DLL) and nothing
changed again..
Also used System File Checker (SFC.EXE) and still no change..
Downloaded the powertoys and Clicked the (REBUILD ICONS) under TWEAK
UI, well no change..

So thats the problem, my exe icons are missing.. Now I am examining the
Registry but I really dont understand a thing..

How to recover my exe icons?

Try the .exe file association fix from here:

It should reset the "defaulticon" setting as well.

Click Start > Run > Copy/Paste following :
reg.exe add "HKCR\exefile\DefaultIcon" /ve /d "%1" /f
