How do I Decode .exe files ? Can I buy codecs over the counter ? I only
seem to decode .wmv files.
Have been trying to decode .mpeg, avi, and others except .wmv files
since I purchased my home PC in Sept'98.
I only want to decode. Confused in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. I
can read and write as this e-mail demonstrates but from there on it's
hopeless. Age 58 years. Malcolm --- . (e-mail address removed)

An executable (.exe) file is machine code (i.e.: zeros and ones). You
would need a dis-assembler to give you assemble code. If you don't know the
assembler it would be useless. Even if you knew the assembler language it
would be very hard to interpret unless you had detailed information of
almost line-by-line code. Then to make it worse, an assembler drops the
information when it creates the executable so the dis-assemble process will
give you just the hexadecimal instructions.
