Excite home page

Can anyone get the pictures on www.excite.com?
I got a call from a friend that uses this web site as a custom home page and
he cannot get it to accept his logon for the customization and cannot see
any of the pictures (box with X).
I get the same picture problem when I go to the site. (I don't have a
customized account with them)
I could not find anyplace to write to them and ask if they have problems.

Yes, but he is missing nothing. Ask him to post rather than pass messages
on, it'll be quicker and things won't get miscommunicated.
Check security settings, lower them.

Hi,
There's a fair amount of Javascript on that page (and not very many
pictures.)

I would:
1. Clear the IE cache. IE> Tools> Internet Options> General> Delete
files (and delete offline content when that dialog pops up) It's often
recommended that the TIF folder be kept at about 50 MB (Settings.)
2. Go to Internet Options> Security> Internet Zone and reset it to default.
3. Check any third-party security programs to see if one of them is blocking
scripts, scripting, active content. Norton Internet Security and a number of
other programs can be configured to block scripts.
4. Try these two commands from Start> Run> cmd [enter]
regsvr32 vbscript.dll [enter]
regsvr32 jscript.dll [enter]
5. Reinstall the scripting engine. Go to
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/downloads/list/webdev.asp
for the appropriate download of Windows Script 5.6
6. Re-registering the DLLs listed in this article may help:

Hope this helps,

Yes. But Privacy Report (e.g. Alt-V,v) shows that most of them
are coming from a different domain. E.g. ak.imgfarm.net
And nslookup shows that that is an alias for an akamai server.

<example>
Non-authoritative answer:
Name: a1255.g.akamai.net
Addresses: 206.167.78.24, 206.167.78.14
Aliases: ak.imgfarm.com, ak.imgfarm.com.edgesuite.net

Perhaps you are blocking stuff from akamai or your DNS
doesn't handle aliases from there? Etc.

Extract one of the URLs which is giving you a Red-X from the source
of the page (e.g. press Alt-V,c then F3 to search for src=,
examine each URL's context and then copy one to your ClipBoard).
Paste that into the Address bar and open it. What do you see then?
(E.g. if you get a DNS error message you will have your answer
for the cause of the Red-X.)

For a specific example to try, I just did a successful open of
http://ak.imgfarm.com/images/my_newsnavS6.gif

The red X boxes appear to be graphics used for a link or section header.
None of these show on the site.

Addition: I did try the resvr32 commands without any change.
It is not a big deal more me, I don't use the excite web, but my friend had
his home page customized and he is a bit mad that he can't log on any more
or get the pictures.
