Exchange Server with desktop and laptop

Hello,

I have an Exchange server (SBS2003) and I connect whilst in the office using
my desktop machine.

When I work from home I use my laptop and connect via a VPN. However having
done this I can no longer access mail that were originally accessed by the
laptop (inbox)

What settings do I need to setup on the Laptop so that the mail is
avaialable in its entirety for both machines?

I am sure I am missing something very obvious...

Mail should be delivered to your mailbox (not to either machine) and
therefor accessible by any client you might want to use.

I suspect your laptop is using POP to access the mailbox and therefor
downloading the messages to a local personal folders file (.pst) and not
maintaining a copy in the mailbox.

Since you are connecting over the VPN at home, I would have my Outlook
(assuming 2003) client use cached mode (MAPI) to access Exchange. That will
create a 'slave' copy of your mailbox on your laptop and they will remain in
synch while connected and your mailbox will look the same from either your
workstation or the laptop.

Note: if you have a large mailbox, the initial synchronisation should
probably be done in the office over a good link.
