Exchange 5.5 & Outlook 2003

After installing outlook 2003 While configuring account it
cannot contact to exchange server (ver 5.5). Error
comeback saying that can not found a valid exchange
server. I can ping the server but cannot resolve it. IS
there any compatibility issue.

Please help

Are you using DNS on your network? If not; add the name and IP-address of
the server to your HOSTS-file

When you ping the server are you able to ping it both by name as by
IP-address. Also when you ping by using
ping -a "IP-address"
is the name resolved correctly?

Did editing the HOSTS-file work?
