Excel XP Word Wrap Problem

I have a lot of text in cells. I want the text to wrap. I have
turned on Format > Cells > Alignment > Wrap Text. But all I get is a
string of number signs (#######) across the width of the cell, and the
text does not wrap. What am I doing wrong?

Check the coloumn width, also check if the text entered is in 'text
mode. Go to format by right click and check

I bet Gord's suggestion will work to show the text, but when the length of the
string inside the cell is pretty long, then the cell will wrap ok (if you have
wrap text enabled). But it does stop showing all the characters at about 1000
characters.

You can increase that by peppering alt-enters in your value (to force a new
line).

And you may find that you have to adjust the row height, too. Excel gives up on
that when there's lots of text in the cell.

Yep, it's in text mode. Column width is 170. Text exceeds 170
characters. But that's the point of word wrap, right?
