Excel will run a macro only after unplugging pc from the network

We have a small shared office network with Windows XP and Office 2003 along
with all the other usual software (Norton AV, printer drivers, etc.). One of
our workers started to have problems with her Excel. Her spread sheets used
to be able to run a macro in about a minute. Then it took 20-30 minutes and
now Excel just stops responding sometimes when trying to run the macros. This
happens even with old Excel SS. I tried to copy them to another PC, same
thing. If I unplug the cat 5 cable the macros run in under a minute. If I
start a macro with the pc plugged in and it hangs all I have to do is unplug
the network cable and the macro finishes in under two minutes. I have updated
Norton AV 2005. I ran a full system scan in safe mode and found nothing. Any
Ideas?
Respectfully,
Nancy

It sounds as if its a problem with your installation. I can advise of
several steps in order to resolve this. Firstly try lowering your macro
security level you can do this by going Tools-->Macros-->Security Level and
then selecting Low as you have got an AV Package you can ignore the warnings.
Try again to run the spreadsheet. If it is still running slow then prehaps
it is a corrupted AV package. I had a similar problem with Internet Explorer
when my av program became corrupted everything was fine until I connected to
the internet and then the system went extremely slow. Try reinstalling the
antivirus package. Then if that doesn't work then prehaps it is a corrupted
office installation and I would advise reinstalling at least the excel
component if you are not expericeing problems with any of the other office
applications. Hope this helps.
