Excel to Notepad

I have an excel file and I need to create a file so that
when I open it up in Notepad, the columns will be in
specific positions with specific lengths. How can I do
this?

Use Save As and specify Tab delimited. The file may get associated with
Excel so open it in Notepad with File|Open rather than double clicking the
file name in Explorer.

You might be able to change the font to Courier New (a fixed width font) and
then do File|SaveAs, choose "Formatted Text (space delimited) (*.prn)"

But I've always struggled with making the columns fit nicely.

I'd either concatenate the cell values into another column:

=LEFT(A1&REPT(" ",20),20) & LEFT(B1&REPT(" ",10),10) & TEXT(C1,"000,000.00")

Then I'd copy and paste to notepad and save from there. Once I figured out that
ugly formula, I kept it and just unhide that column when I wanted to export the
data.

If that doesn't work for you, maybe you could do it with a macro.

Here's a link that provides a macro:

Hi,

I am facing a problem while uploading a excel data to notepad.

I saved my XL data as tab delimiter, but the text with comma is upload in the notepad within double quotes.

Example :

Excel data : No 20, lotus street
data in notepad : "No 20, lotus street"

Please advice me how to resolve the above problem.

Thanks,
Sujatha
