Excel to dataset (Read Column properties)

hi all,
i want to read an excel sheet into dataset,
but the problem is that i cant read the cell properties of a cell in the excel file into the dataset,
is there any way to read the cell properties (such as color and border ) of a cell of an excel sheet into a dataset or any other data storage so that it can finally be stored in a database.
also while reading merged cell i am not able to read these cells as merged cells into the dataset.
Please help me.
