Excel row height units??????

Bill

What is the unit of measure used by Excel with row height?
When I adjust the row height, Excel gives "some
measurement" (and the height in number of pixels). What
units should I attach to the "some measurement".

There must be more to it than that. If I Autofit the row
height, and put in a single letter of font size 72, I get
a row height of 90. 90 what?

Hi!

Maybe it would seem economical to put 72-point type in a 72-point row
But reading it would be pretty bad.
There's a bit of space above and below (if only to make way fo
underlining).

If I recall, as it happens, it's 72 points to the inch, approximately.

If you set the row height to 72 points and typ a letter formatted with 72
point size they should be approximately the same. The height is determined
by a specific letter in the alphabet, though which one currently escapes me.
Excel automatically adds extra space when autofitting to make room possible
thick borders and the addition of font attributes such as bolding.
