Excel Database/Pivot Table Issue

Hi! I'm struggling to find an optimal solution for my excel databs
problem.

My file consists of two tabs - "data" & "summary".

Summary tab has my attempt to group the project phases by timeline.
But I think pivot table would be a better solution. My problem wit
the pivot approach is I've 14 cloumns which make up different phases i
my timeline. I want those columns to be the "rows", in the pivot tabl
layout. But excel does not allow me to do that.

I would apprecaite some help..

I've attached my excel file..

I'm not Frank or Dave, but you could rearrange your data like this:

PM Location Event Date
Tom New York KICKOFF 6/1/2004
Tom New York PROGRAMMING 7/1/2004

Then create a pivot table with Event in the row area, Date in the column
area (you can group by Year, Month, etc), and count of PM in the data area.

To reorganize the data, you can use the "unpivot' technique described by
John Walkenbach:

Debra:

Thanks for the reply. I really appreciate it.

My problem, if you look at my file is am trying to display data as
timeline in the "summary" tab.

For e.g. in cell C3 as the count is 1, it is easy to display the inf
like " 1 kickoff in New York and PM is Tom".

But for cells like G4 or I4 where the count is >1, actually 2.

In such cases what formula can i write to give detailed informatiopn o
both the counts in the cell.

So for G4 it could be:

1 programming in WHite Plains PM is Tom &

1 Programming in Los Angeles PM is Peter.

How do I show in a formula.

If this is not an optimal solution then maybe Pivot table?
