Excel Crashing

I keep getting this error message
'The instruction at '0x3005c5eb' referenced memory
at '0x00000018'. This happens when I open an excel file.
It then gives me another error message
'Excel.exe has generated errors and will be closed by
windows.
I have upgraded my office 2000 to SP3 but it's not playing.


Can anyone help

I have been using the trail product of Excel through Ofice 2007. It causes my laptop to freeze and reboot, not necessarily at the start though. I do not get any error messages apart from when the laptop hs fully rebooted.

I believe this is a common problem. Any ideas, anyone ?
