Excel changes 01-6601(text field) to Jan-01 when copy/paste

Q

Questioner

Excel changes 01-6601(text field) to Jan-01 when
copy/paste from HTML page. We have tried various ways
such as format the columns to text before copy/paste,
create blank Excel file in older version, etc... but it
didn't work. We appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks

Would the following work:

Pre-format the destination cells as Text, then copy
and Paste Special as Values...?

Kind regards,

This works for me, pre-format as text and paste special as text
Another way although a bit annoying would be to paste everything to notepad,
save as a text file, open the text file in excel which will kick up the text
import wizard,
click next twice and in step 3 select text from column data format.

We did test this scenario but it didn't work. We even
tried to copy/paste into MS Word, save as HTML file and
then bring the file in Excel but it didn't work.

Thanks

Don't save as html, save as text. Then if you open the text file in Excel
you'll get
the text import wizard where you can import it as text
