Excel Addition Issue

B

All,

I was getting strange results in my spreadsheet. Some columns or rows
were adding fine, others were returning zero as the result (when that
was incorrect).

I noticed similar issues in this group, most of which had to do with
the floating point issue. Tried the solutions referenced in the
articles, none of them worked.

I discovered the issue that I was having and thought that I would
share it in case anyone else has it. When I opened the spreadsheet
Excel was telling me that there was a circular argument (but was not
telling me where it was). I fixed that problem by going to Tools -
Options - Calculations and checking the Iteration box (I left the
maximum number at the default 100).

Saved the spreadsheet, closed it, re-opened and no more circular error
message. And, no more problems with addition.

Hope this helps.

You have not fixed your leaky roof, you have just placed a bucket under the
drip.

You obviously have a circ ref.

To find it click on the circ ref toolbar "navigation" button.

See more in help on circular references.
