I have an unusual Excel issue, which is as follows:
A user opens an Excel file, located on a SharePoint drive, and receives a
warning message stating that the Office Assistant failed to load properly,
run a detect and repair. After clicking OK to bypass the error message. the
file opens and is displayed briefly before another error appears stating that
an internal application error has occurred and Excel will close. The
application closes without any user intervention possible.
I’ve opened this file on other machines, no problem, the user has logged in
on different PC’s and has been able to open this file without any problems,
and no other user of this shared workbook encounters any problems when
opening the file.
The Office repair installation utility has been run, and the error has not
been corrected, and I’ve disabled the Office Assistant in Excel, closed Excel
and cold booted the PC, and the error still persists.
My next step is to have a complete Office reinstall, but I’m hoping that
perhaps someone might have some pointers for me out here.
I’m posting this on the Excel forum, but it could just as easily be a
SharePoint issue, so please forgive me if I’ve posted this in the wrong
location.
