Excel 2007 Toolbar File

In Excel 2000, the toolbars were stored in a file called Excel.xlb. Is there
a similar file for Excel 2007? I haven't been able to find one. Thanks!

Yes, it also has a type of xlb. Make certain when you search that you
change the advance search option to search for hidden files.

Hi Bob,
Do you have more information, I think that only works for
compatibility directly from an older Excel version. I installed
on a new machine and copied that file over after reading J.Latham's
comments, but don't know of any way of updating it:

Would have worked except that I had named not named my
personal.xls file by it's conventional name, which prevented
me from having usable buttons. But with Ron de Bruin's web
page I've rebuilt my "menu" to a reasonable facsimile
in the Quick Access Toolbar (qat). More information at

I see a file called Excel12.xlb that seems to be updated every time I close
Excel. As an experiment, I deleted that file and reopened Excel. I expected
to see just the default toolbar, but I saw the same toolbar I thought I
deleted. I didn't do anything to the toolbar, but when I closed Excel, the
Excel12.xlb file was there again. Where did Excel get the toolbar
information after I deleted the Excel12.xlb file?
