Excel 2003 - VBA - A simple copy and paste

I know (I think) that I accomplished this at one time but I cannot seem to
get it working again.

I need to copy a section of a worksheet and paste it into another worksheet.
The problem is that the sheet I am coping from has merged cells and when I
try to paste, it gives me the ugly message that it cannot do this with the
formatting .

I tried pasting values. NG
I tried pasting formats first then values. NG

Is there something I'm missing?

Welcome to the Wonderful World of Merged Cells which causes so many problems it
should have been removed from Excel with the SR-1 patch after being introduced
in XL97 and never added to later versions.

Unmerge the cells and do your copying/pasting.
