Excel 2003 saving error: "Did Not Save"

This error has now occurred on two different workbooks, on three different
PCs. The workbooks are stored on a server and one of them was shared at the
time the error occurred, the other not. On both occassions, the saving
process was very slow and then finally the message "Did not save" appeared.
The error has come and gone through deleting windows temp files as well as
copying the sheets to a new workbook. Currently installing Office updates up
to service pack 2.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Did not save is usually caused by the network bouncing. If the network goes
down whilst Excel is saving, even if it comes straight back then you often
get this message. Sometimes you get it if the network dropped whilst you had
the file open.
Speak to your sys admins and find out if there are network problems, if
possible save locally and sync to the server instead.
cheers

Thanks for your reply Simon. I am the sys admin and there are no network
issues. The exact error is "Document not saved", my apologies. The machines
are set to sync with offline files and this works well when the network is
down. Any other ideas?
