Excel 2003 dropping chart data

Situation:
Excel workbook created in 2002 version with data worksheet and chart
worksheet.
When the workbook is emailed to another user who is running Excel
2003, the data from the chart "disappears". The chart opens with data
and within 2 - 3 seconds, becomes blank. The header stays, but the
data is erased.

Any thoughts on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
