excel 2000 crashes when attempting to copy and paste

Excel crashes after attempting to copy and paste to a different workbook. I
am using excel 2000. I am also using CTRL+C to copy and CTRL+V to paste.
The user swears that she was able to do the same thing on a previous
machine. Still using the same version (Excel 2000 sp3).
