I am helping a friend with her pc. All her original Windows Components stop working. Internet Explorer, MSN EXplorer, Windows Media Player, Windows Messenger, MSN Messenger, etc etc. I can't even click on System in Control Panel, not even Norton Anti Virus. I tried McAfee and it let me scan but won't let me update it. It is already 6 months out of date. I finally download dat files from a website and it finally scan the pc and it has tons of sasser worms. but the windows still not working. What can I do? She is using HP and I use Compaq. Her pc doesn't come with any disks. But I do. Can I reinstall Windows XP using my disk?

Sounds similar to the virus I had. Basically her best bet
is to reformat.
Does she have a Compaq? because myne did not come with
disks either, but I called them, and they sent the disks
within a few days. Either way, if she calls the company,
they should be able to send her the recovery disks.

I have Compaq and I have recovery disks. She has HP but she doesn't have the disks. Can I use my disks in her pc? Or else, I have to call them to send me the disks. Thanks again.

Compaq is owned by HP. However, I dont think they are the
same. She will probubly have to call them with her model
and Serial Number, so that they can send the correct disks.
