Everything Hangs on Win2k DC

Hello All... i have one Domain and one Windows 2000 DC in that domain.
3 other servers exist but cannot run dcpromo because of a "active
directory cannot be contacted" error. ON this DC, i cannot install any
new software, cannot start or stop any services, cannot upgrade any
software / hotfixes / patches, etc. Does anyone have any suggestion as
to why? Luckily this server is still serving up the required security
and GPOs', although sometimes logons cannot be authenticated now. That
part just started a week ago. i've found a few hotfixes that may/may
not help me with this issue but even the hotfix won't install. it
never stops responding, it simply just sits there starting the
installation but never actually kicking off. i've left a few of them
running for 48-72 hours with no change. Any idea what causes this?
TIA,
(e-mail address removed)

Hi

- Any errors on ventviewer ?

Install support tools from Windows CD and run from command prompt :
check for errors on:

netdiag /debug
dcdiag /d /c /v

Thanks Jorge:
I wanted to run dcdiag, etc but i cannot even install the w2k support
tools. Event viewer gives me lots of Event 5774 / NETLOGON Id's
popping up ((DNS server not authoritative for zone. )), but not much
else except 'information' events. i can't even get my NIC's settings
up, it just doesn't appear. Is there any way, on the WinTel platform,
to set my DNS/IP stack settings, etc etc from the command line? that
would be a huge help in itself.
