EventID 1004, SOurce: msiInstaller being logged

Brad Pears

I notice on our terminal server that the above eventid is continually being
logged. I have checked Eventid.net but have not really found a good
solution.

The error is as follows...

Detection of product '{00000409-78E1-11D2-B60F-006097C998E7}', feature
'OfficeUserData', component '{C9AF9050-C8BE-11D1-9C67-0000F81F1B38}' failed.
The resource
'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Common\UserData' does not
exist.

I have attempted to add this registry entry but with no luck. I am not 100%
cetain what exactly to add..

Can anyone help with this?

Thanks,

Brad

Eventid.net mentions to add the registry entries in...

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\common]
"UserData"=dword:00000001
"OSAShortcut"=dword:00000001

You already did this, correct? Did you try restarting the
system afterwards?

Yes, I did do this. The most recent thing I have tried is to create the .reg
file and have it run each time a user logs on the system (registry import).
This was also mentioned in eventid. THis may have done the trick. So far, I
have only seen a few of these errors being logged.
