EVENT VIEWER Not Responding.

Hi Folks.

Hey does anyone out there know what is causing XP's Event
Viewer to stop responding after you open it. I've tried
everything to fix this. I even deleted the pagefile.sym
file and made a new one. The Event viewer will then work,
but only once. Next time I open it to view an event it
stops responding.

Anyone else having this problem?

Thanks for any help if there is any.

Christopher

I had the exact same problem.

It dawned on me, that the error started after I've added an extra 512
MB of RAM to the system enabling me to completely disable the pagefile.
Enabling the pagefile solved the problem!
So far I've put it down to a Microsoft bug.

It's not a bug. You should not be running without a page file. As you
found, most systems need it to park files no matter how much memory is
installed. The VM system is an interplay between actual memory and page
file.
