event viewer limited to size

not exactly sure what i've done...but....the logs in my event viewer seems to
be stuck at a limited size.
Application and system logs are stuck at 64 kb, and the security log stays
at 192 kb.
It seems I've found a solution at the knowledge base...but....not to clear
how to modify the registry settings.(if that's where my problem exists)

I have mine set to the smallest size.

The default maximum size is 512K.

Did you think of looking in Event Viewer HELP?

To change the event log size
Open Event Viewer.
In the console tree, click the log you want to change.
On the Action menu, click Properties.
On the General tab, in Maximum log size, specify the new log size in
kilobytes.
To put the new setting in effect, click Clear Log.
If you want to retain the information currently in the log, click Yes when a
message appears asking if you want to save the original log before clearing
it, and then click OK.

Notes
To open Event Viewer, click Start, click Control Panel, click Performance
and Maintenance, click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Event
Viewer.
You must be logged on as an administrator or a member of the Administrators
group to change the size of an event log.

I've tried what you've recommended but, it's now dropped me down to 64 kb on
all 3 logs. So....tried the default tab also....and came up witht the same
results.
I have tried the "help" in vent viewer...and...like I said...it mentions
changing the registry somewhat. Something I can do if the directions were a
litlle more in laymans terms. If this is what i have to do...some help would
be greatfull.
