Event Viewer Errors

I'm getting a couple of persistent event viewer errors lately:

An application error:

" WMI ADAP was unable to load the ASP.NET_2.0.50727 performance library
because it returned invalid data: 0x0 "

A system error:

" The ASInsHelp service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified. "

I don't know if these two are related (I suspect not because the first
has been going on for much longer than the second).

I haven't noticed anything untoward with the system operation, but can
anyone shed any light on these, whether they are critical and how I
might avoid them?

Are you running a web server? If not you can disable the counter. You can
Add/Remove them by regedit, but it's much easier to use exctrlst.exe
(Extensible Counter Listing Tool) from the resource kit to enable/ disable
the counters.

Have you installed the mobo chipset drivers?

Yes, I have when I first installed (long time ago).

I'm pretty sure that the second error:

" The ASInsHelp service failed to start due to the following error: The
system cannot find the file specified. "

is connected with the ASUS hardware monitor program that i have
installed. I don't use it much so I uninstalled it but still get the
error. However there are lots of traces of it left in the registry.

You can either set the ASInsHelp service startup to disabled or delete the
service subkey for it located at;

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services

Ok, did that and the error's gone. Thanks a bunch.

With respect to the other error, I downloaded exctrlst.exe as you
suggested. What do I do with it now?
