After 4+ years of superior performance, my Toshiba A75 laptop has problems.
About a month ago, the laptop began to display STOP messages that said to
disable the anti-virus software and run CHKDSK. On a number of occassions,
the screen failed to work and/or the computer simply shut down. On other
occassion, the screen would display an image or a partial image with verticle
lines running throughout the picture. Over the last month, I have tried to
run CHKDSK many times. It has frozen at many different intervals in the
CHKDSK process.
Recently, I read about the event viewer which I checked and found that my
computer recorded two messagese after each time that I had a problem.
The first message reads: "Windows cannot query DllName registry entry for
(CF7639F3-ABA2-41DB-97F2-81E2C5DBFC5D). This is mostly likely caused by a
faulty registration." The second message reads exactly the same except for
the numberical quotation is different. It reads
(7B849a69-220F-451E-B3FE-2CB811AF94AE).
I don't know much about the life of a laptop. But the cost of diagnosing
this problem, at least according to local technicians, is at a point where
purchasing a new laptop probably makes sense.
I would like to know (1) what is causing this problem with my laptop and (2)
are the technicians' correct?
Thanks in advance.
