Event Viewer Error

Can someone tell me how to fix a damaged INF file? I was
told that because my windows dialer is not working, that I
could have a damaged INF file, but I do not know what that
is or how to fix it.

Thank you.

There aren't many details except that when I try to use
the windows dialer, it will not pickup and outside line to
dial. I do not get an error message, it will act as if it
is dialing the number, but doesn't pick up a line.

Any suggestions?

Thanks! Kellie

Without the details I mentioned no one will have a clue.

Check Event Viewer and Device Manager for errors and or non-starting
devices. If it never worked the modem may be bad.

It has worked in the past, it just stopped working one
day. (our modem better not be bad - its not even one year
old).

Can you tell me how to check the event viewer/devise
manager for errors? thanks.

Once I do this, I know I have to check for errors and non-
running devices, but what exactly am I looking for? Once
I do find something, what do I do from there?

Thanks.

Please don't think I am a complete idiot - I checked the
event viewer and the device manager. in the event viewer
there are several errors and warnings (in plain view), but
I do not see anything in the device manager. Will there
errors in the device manager be easy to spot? within the
event viewer, how do i know if it is modem or port issue -
it doesn't say? thanks
