Event on Device dialog box -- how do I specific the device permanently?

I have an Epson scanner (Epson Perfection 3490) and Windows 2000 Pro.

Each time I press the "SCAN" button on the scanner's exterior, a
Windows dialog box appears: "Even on Device: Epson Perfection
3490/3590. Please choose which application should receive the image..."
and then the box gives me a list of all of the applications that are
"registered" with TWAIN and will accept the scanned image.

The problem is that I want the Epson Scan program to take the image by
default without this Event on Device popup box appearing.

How do I specify once-and-for-all-time that I want all scans to go to
the Epson software?

Note: I've already altered the registry files that Epson loaded during
installation but the "Events on Device" box continues to appear eaxh
time i try to scan something---and that makes me believe that the
"Events on Device" box is created by Windows 2000 Pro and not Epson.

How do I tell Windows which scanner-software to use and make it stick?

If its any help I use a Canon scanner, with Btns on the front, I'm able,
within the scanner setup/options to select the default proccess for each
Btn.
It may be that your Btns/process isnt correctly configured.

Thank you for your response. I appreciate you taking the time to help
me.

The problem was not caused by the scanner or by Windows---but by my own
lack of memory. I'm getting too old to work on computers...

I forgot that some Registry settings require a computer restart in
order to take effect. It has been a long time since I had to manage
such issues (that require a restart) and many of the changes I make in
the Registry today are instantly picked up by the software and do not
require me to restart the computer.

Once I made the desired adjustments---and then restarted the
machine---eveything is good.

This is my fault---sorry!
