On a WinXPsp2 client that is a member of a Win2003sp1 AD the following events
keep showing up in the event log:

________________________________
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Userenv
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1030
Date: 8/28/2006
Time: 2:22:06 PM
User: DOMAIN\username
Computer: COMPUTERNAME
Description: Windows cannot query for the list of Group Policy objects. A
message that describes the reason for this was previously logged by the
policy engine.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

I have seen posts of this error showing-up on servers, but why would this
show-up on a client machine ? And, more importantly, is there a way to fix it
? TIA ...

i experienced a similar problem by reseting the tcp/ip stack on the
client machine. Maybe it will work for you.

netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt
