| Hello,
|
| I seem to have a problem with my Replication service
| I have 2 DC's with w2k server and SP3.
| On the PDC every 5 minutes I get Event ID 1000 and 1001.
| I found already why (http://support.microsoft.com/?
| kbid=271213) but the resolution sounds like Portugese to
| me (Nice language but I do not understand a word).
|
| Could someone tell me how to proceed to solve this

Pascal,

Esentially, this article is saying that your SYSVOL\Domain\Policies folder
is missing. By default, this directory would be located at:

C:\WINNT\SYSVOL\Domain\Policies

The article is stating that you need to restore this directory from a
backup if you have one.

Is this your only domain controller?

Chad,

I also have an 2nd DC so could I copy it from this one to
the other ? And if i use resetdefpol.exe do I have to
remake all the users ?

Hope u can help me there.

Paste the event that you are seeing into the post.
Depending on the
Status code it might mean that the directory is not there
(Code 2 or 3) or
permisions (Code 5). Check to see if you can open the path
that is in the
event log. If you can not then either restore a system
state or use
resetdefpol.exe to recreate the default policies.

Richard,

The event id code = 3 and as I asked the other great helper
Do I just copy everything from the one DC to the other ?
because to loose all my policies with resetdefpol.exe is
my last resort.
If in the future I would like to backup this policies is
there also a special tool to do this ?

thanks a million,
Pascal
