Ethernet light on dsl modem constantly flashes, but internet works

I have my dsl modem hooked up to a wired router with one desktop and one
laptop going to the router. The dsl light and power light on my modem stay
constant. However, the ethernet light constantly and rapidly flashes. I have
noticed a little speed decrease in my page loads. I am wondering if this
ethernet light is supposed to be constant also? Even when I do nothing on
the computers, the thing still blinks.

The blinking of the Ethernet light is normal. It blinks showing there
is activity on the connection. If there is no activity it will either
be solid dark or solid on.

Is this different than it used to be? Some blinking
is normal, but constant & continuous is not.

You may have been infected with something that
is sending crap out over the Net.
