\etc\hosts file is overwritten

Hi Gurus,

On some of our Windows 2000 servers, the c:\winnt\system32
\drivers\etc\hosts file is being overwritten with an older
file.
All the modifications were lost.

Has anyone has any idea what is happening? and how Can I
find which application/process is updating this file?

Any pointers will help,

Regards,
Sathya

You could change permissions on the file to only allow a select few to
change it.
