Errors tryings to set up USB printer- PLEASE HELP ME!

No matter what I do during installation of the Lexmark Z25, I keep getting
these 2 errors:

Problem installing hardware USB printing support and
Problem installing hardware Inkjet color printer - data is invalid.

This printer was ALREADY installed on this computer once before AND also
installed as a network printer as well. I have NO idea what happened as to
why I cannot install this printer now. I have the CD, and it says the
installation is complete, but it always tells me that no drivers are
installed. But during set-up., it DOES tell me drivers are installed.

When I check the problem device (USB Port) it says NO drivers are installed.
WHAT's going on? Frustrated!!

I already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software -- NOTHING works.
When I try and uninstall the lexmark program, it says it hasn't been
installed. When I try and uninstall the driver and reinstall the driver, it
doesn't work either AND there is NO USB001 Virtual Printer Port. I think the
problem lies there somewhere. The printer cannot communicate with the
computer and also, I can not use add a printer wizard because at the end of
the wizard, it gives me those 2 errors I already listed above. I cannot
install USB printing support and Inkjet Color Printer - data is invalid. Once
again, I cannot install USB printing support! Please please help.

Using Microsoft XP Home edition, and I think the problem is with the
operating system. Printer will install on other computers.

try to see if you can install it under the
add/remove programs, if that doesen't work then
click on start, then go to the control panel & click
printer & other hardware & go to properties.

I assume by default you want to set it up as a local
printer.

I had previously tried that to no avail. Yes, I want to set up as local
printer and default printer.

Hi, and thanks for your help. I did EVERYTHING you mentioned, and the
computer still cannot find the printer! The device in deveice manager that
is in question is the Inkjet Color Printer (USB) - it has NO driver(s) listed
and will not install a driver. IT says it has a problem with USB Printer
Support - the fact that it cannot install USB printer support! Still have
errors:
Problem installing hardware USB printing support and
Problem installing hardware Inkjet color printer - data is invalid.

After completely uninstalling the printer, REBOOT your PC WITHOUT
having the printer connected. Then install the software. I believe you
NEVER disconnected it.

Unfortunately I wish you were correct. I did uninstall everything
completely, and unplugged the printer and rebooted, then plugged it back in.

The problem is the fact the computer cannot find the printer - it cannot
install "USB Printer Support" ... :-(

When the printer is disconnected from the PC and the PC rebooted, there
should be no remains of it in the Device Manager.

You state you plugged it back in AFTER you rebooted. That is also
incorrect. You should not connect it nor turn it on untill you install
the software first. During installation you will be prompted when to
connect it, and when to turn it on.
