Event Viewer error - whenever I click "View event Logs" under Administrative
tools I receive the following error:

Event Log Service is unavailable. Verify that the service is running.

I then go to Services and select and retstart Diagnostic Policy Service and
receive the following error:

"Windows could not start the Diagnostic Policy Service service on Local
Computer.
Error 1079: The account specified for this service is different from the
account specified for other services running in the same process."

I then tried starting Windows Event Log and received this error:

"Windows could not start the Windows Event Log Service on Local Computer.
Error 4201: The instance name passed was not recognized a valid WMI by data
provider."

I also tried starting the task scheduler service and received this error:
"Task Scheduler Service is not available. Task Scheduler will attempt to
reconnect to it."

The error pops up several times then the Task scheduler window says
"reading data failed"

Another error, after installing the Latest Windows update Many of my
shortcuts and desktop icons are missing. All of the Office 2007 icons are
missing and So is iTunes and other programs. I have retored it previously
when I had the same issue yesterday and thought I had installed something the
messed up the computer. the only thing that was the same was the windows
vista update that caused the same issue.

please help any assistance you can offer will help this headache go away. I
was very leery of even buying a computer with vista because of the "issues" I
heard about i only bought my computer 3 months ago and now I'm having all
these issues aand i am not that happy!

I get the same error, i.e. Error 1079, when attempting to start the
Diagnostic Policy Service. I hope that someone replies.
