error5003

get this message when running Windows Installer (InstallShield wizard).
Even when updating..It says .."an error has occurred while running setup.
Please make sure you have finished any previous setups and closed other
applications..."
Details read:

Error Code: -5003 : 0x5
Error Information:
SetupDLL\SetupDLL.cpp (1964)
PAPP:Star Wars® Knights of the Old Republic® II: The Sith Lords(TM)
PVENDOR:LucasArts (http://www.lucasarts.com)
PGUID:629F65FB-7F3C-4D66-A1C0-20722744B7B6
$10.0.0.159
@Windows xp Service Pack 2 (2600) IE 6.0.2900.2180

Anyone know how to solve this. I've closed down all running applications
and running software (anti-virus; spyware) through the task manager. Still
get the 5003 error and then did a safe boot running only specific programs at
startup then tried to install...still error 5003. I have the latest update
Service pack 2, so this should not be an issue of updating. I have updated
my ATI drivers as well and still nothing.
Any suggestions on what to do? I've had suggestions on deleting the
InstallShield file so that when the software installs, it won't use
InstallShield, is that correct? Don't want to be to hasty in deleting things
that I shouldn't be deleting..HELP...

Tried the uninstall and reinstall of installer with no avail. Questioning
the whole renaming and reconfig of installer because of the fact that the
installer still works but not on this particular software or in updating...
Well that is all in good. But the thing I neglected to mention was that
amidst the chaos, I uninstalled a game software that was previoulsy loaded
and successfully worked. I then, re-installed it (since it used
Installshield wizard), and it worked at both uninstalling and re-installing.
So, after all that, I tried again with the software in question and got that
Error 5003 message just at the start of setup. I thought it might be a
corrupted software disk and changed over, and it still gave me that 5003
error. So is it the installer or the disk? Because it isn't the disk?
