Error

I am running on a proxy server and the WD doesn't seem to be able to connect
to the Internet giving me the error 0X8024401b. Is there anyway to change
how it connects. I have my IE running on the proxy and I have reinstalled WD
and removed the WD signatures but it still will not update. Any suggestions?

Cheers,

Alison

Can you go to Windows Update, and do a custom scan, and get updates that
way?

Hey Bill,

Unfortunely the windows update does not work because it doesn't not seem to
bring up an update for the WD.

In your first message you mentioned removing Windows Defender signatures.
How did you get those?

I followed another post that was put on here to see if that would work..
didn't seem to. You go to run and then put in Msiexec /x
{A5CC2A09-E9D3-49EC-923D-03874BBD4C2C} to remove.

This thread seems to be about inability to update.

I'm just wondering how those original updates that you removed got there?

I don't know... I was just following another post to see if it would help.
Whether there were signatures or not it didn't do anything. I just need help
with this situation. I've never had Internet through a proxy and so all of
this error is new to me.

If Internet Explorer is able to reach Windows Update, you should be able to
get definition updates that way.

I'm wondering whether your issue is not so much the proxy, as perhaps group
policy in effect that limits your update options?

WU will not authenticate through a proxy. Can you have the proxy server
admin allow anonymous access to the windows update servers?
