Hi everyOne and happy new year to all.

I am new at win 2000 server and I need your help.
I have 5 servers, two of them are dc , I recently added a new wkstation
which runs wind 2000 pro. I can logged in and I can use remote desktop from
my workstation to connect to the servers, but when I go to my entire network
and double click I can see all the servers on my screen but when I double
click on any of them I get the following Message.
" there are currently no logon server available to service the logon
request"I can do this from any other workstation on the network.

Remember I am new at this so please easy on me.
Thanks a bunch

This sounds like a DNS problem. You will want to go through your DNS
settings to make sure that your DCs are correctly showing up there and that
the workstations are getting the DNS servers correctly.

You should look at the event logs for DNS errors and start troubleshooting
with NSLookup and DCDiag to verify that there are no problems locating
servers and services (Like the PDC Emulator and GCs).

Thanks for your promp reply.
Why might be the reason that I can do all this, surf the entire network but
on this particular workstation I can not.

I can get on anyother workstation joinned to the domain and do all this,
connect remotly to servers and surf the entire network where I can see all
servers and other workstations. double click on them and see what I am
looking for but on this particular one the only thing that I can not do is
double click on a server or wokstation when I see ,it it gives me the error.
I will look your solution and keep you posted

Is there any chance that the DNS settings on this computer are messed up.
Look for a reservation in DHCP, a typo in a hard coded DNS, or LMHOSTS
entries.

The other option might be to uninstall the NIC and reinstall it. Make sure
the drivers are current and its handling naming correctly.
