Get the following:
"The Windows Installer service could not be accessed. This can occur
when.....Safe Mode...........OR Windows Installer is not correctly
installed......."

Safe Mode is not the problem.

¿How do I fix Windows Installer?

Sorry.....went to all sites & did everything. Still have the same problem.
(Only thing I did not do was uninstall directX)

Then I'm sorry, but I don't know. Here are a few questions/suggestions:

1. What changed between the time things worked and the time they didn't?

2. What is the virus/malware status of the machine? Be sure it is clean:

3. Did you try a System Restore to when things worked? If not, you might
want to do so.

Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore
"Restore my computer to an earlier time"

4. Run the System File Checker:
Start>Run>sfc /scannoe [enter]
Have your XP install CD handy

5. Do a Repair Install:
