error while archiving

Outlook 2000 and using win98 connected to exchange server.
When trying to archive a mailbox, get error
message "Errors occurred while archiving. Look for a
detailed report in your Deleted Items folder. Error while
archiving folder <folder> in store <mailbox>. Some items
could not be copied. They were either moved or deleted, or
access was denied. Any ideas? He did have an archive pst
open, closed it and reran archive but still errors.

Jocelyn,
The archive file is over 1.5 gb. Could that cause a
problem, maybe try a different pst name. If you respond,
could you copy to my email address, thanks

Yes, the file size could be causing problems. The absolute upper limit of a
..PST file in Outlook 2002 and earlier is 2GB, but many users report trouble
starting at the 1GB mark. Stop archiving to that file and try to break it
apart a little so you won't have trouble accessing the archived data later.
You can open the file in Outlook using File | Open, then create a new .PST
file and drag some of the information in the original archive file to it.
Make sure to compact the original archive file when you've finished editing
it -- right click its root folder, select Properties, Advanced, Compact Now.
