Error when installing Microsoft AntiSpyware

Coleen

My version of Microsoft AntiSpyware (Beta) has expired.
While trying to download a new version, I'm getting the
following error:

Error1606. Could not acess network location %USERPROFILE%
\SendTo\

I'm getting the same error when I try to remove or change
the program. Any ideas what this error means and how to
fix it?

Are you logged in as the same administrator level user who installed the
program originally?

I presume so. My profile has 'Computer Administrator'
authority. Is there a higher authority?

Are there other profiles as well on the machine? There is a problem with
the beta in that some registry permissions are apparently too
restrictive--set for the current user only, as I recall.

You can try this:

Shut down Microsoft Antispyware. Delete c:\program files\microsoft
antispyware and subfolders. You will lose access to any quarantined items.

Download the Windows Installer cleanup tool:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301

Install it, and use it to remove the Installer traces of Microsoft
Antispyware.

Then reinstall Microsoft Antispyware/
