Error reinstalling XP Pro

Did an initial install of XP Pro and caught a virus.
Installed the Compaq quick restore to get the system back
to Win98 and it seemed to work OK. The system restarted
and it was in the middle of the XP setup. The system
prompted me for the XP Pro disk and when I put it in the
install seemed to run. It sat at 39 mins for a while
then generated an install error - The signature for
Windows XP Error Code is 426. Profile is invalid. How
do I get past this error?

Hi Carey!
The suggestion in the link did not work but I was able to
get around the error by booting up from the XP disc again
and got the options to install it fresh. It went through
without error.
