Error reads "Your Microsoft Exchange Server is not available"?

I just installed Office Professional Edition 2003 on my laptop. When I open
Outlook, I get an error that reads "Your Microsoft Exchange Server is not
available". If I select the option to Work Offline, I get another error that
reads "Unable to open default email folders. The information store could not
be opened". I'm running MS Windows XP Home Edition. Any advice would be
greatly appreciated.

Are you uisng Exchange server? If not, delete your profile and create one
that will use your account type.

I would probably go to the mail applet in the control panel, select the show
profiles button and create a new mail profile for whatever type account your
company/isp offers and delete the old one.

You are running XP home edition?
This means your machine is not a member of the domain hosting the exchange
server and therefore you may have security issues connecting to your mailbox.
Are you able to access other resources on the network?
Does the Outlook session prompt for a username and password when you select
the Microsoft Exchange Server account information in your profile?
Did this work with a previous version of Outlook?
